Andrea Turner, CMT, was voted Best of Oakland 2010 by Oakland magazine readers, and has been lucky to have many clients review her on Yelp.com.
Andrea is certified in Swedish, Sports Massage, TMJ Massage, Pregnancy Massage, and Trigger Point by San Francisco School of Massage, and studied Deep Tissue massage with Art Riggs, a renowned expert in the field. Andrea holds a massage license from the state of California (California Massage Therapy Council Licensee #10867.)
She served on the advisory board for the Massage Therapy Program of Western Career College in Emeryville 2007 - 2009. She has volunteered as a massage therapist for the California Lifecycle (a seven-day bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, benefiting Aids research). She also occasionally serves as a teaching assistant for Sports Massage classes at her former massage school.
In a previous incarnation, Andrea was a Project Manager for web consultancy Razorfish, building large-scale websites for clients such as Intel, Williams Sonoma, and Paramount. It would have been easy to stay in the corporate life, but she eventually choose to do something she really loved: massage. She opened Andrea Turner Massage Therapy in 2005.
Andrea became interested in helping people at an early age: her first job was giving shoulder rubs to family friends for quarters, at the age of nine. While in high school, she worked summers as a lab assistant in a Duke cancer research laboratory and served as a Sports Medicine Trainer during the school year. After spending her formative years of sitting on the sidelines of volleyball, softball, and basketball games armed with a first aid kit, she proudly completed her own first-ever triathlon in 2004.

I realize that not every issue in life can be addressed by massage. So, I've searched the local community and found some excellent answers to common issues that often plague my clients.
Align Chiropractic
Your muscles hang on a framework, and if that framework is out of alignment, your muscles can be chronically stretched, shortened, or just overtaxed. Dr. Carolyn Finnegan at Align Chiropractic practices a rare, scientifically-based modailty that involves chiropractic adjustment, physical therapy and traction, and often puts your spine back into normal alignment within about 3 months. And it stays! She gets serious results, and I love what she's able to do for my massage clients.
Ellen Olson Esthetics
Ellen has an amazing skin care studio a few blocks away on Grand Avenue across from the Grand Lake Theater. Her favorite clients are those with problem skin... no matter your issue, she'll fix you right up! She's got powerful tonics, potions and lotions that keep people looking their best. You can even schedule online to see her before or after your massage. Just go to her website and select the Book Now button.
Kristin Goldsmith Pilates
Often the root cause of low back issues can easily be addressed by a little core strengthening, and there's no better way to build this quickly than pilates. Kristin is my favorite pilates guru, and she's a highly experienced instructor based in Emeryville, offering group classes and individual instruction.
Oakland Community Acupuncture
Accupuncture is the only system of medicine with over a thousand years of proven results. Did you know that acupuncture can increase your chance of getting pregnant by 30%? Or that it can help with a myriad of other health issues, even including weight loss? Ky Yu at Oakland Community Acupuncture is a great person to have on your wellness team.
PacWest Boot Camp
Are you an athlete looking to 'up' your game, or get ready for a big event? PacWest Athletics has a huge number of fitness programs that are guarenteed to whip you into shape, such as Boot Camp, a multi-week athletic program, and even specialized classes, like Yoga For Runners. They are in SF, Oakland, Marin and the South Bay.
Radiant Life Chiropractic
Interested in the benefits of chiropractic care but not into the popping and cracking of adjustments? Ron and Dannielle Mutch specialize in a wonderful, non-invasive style of chiropractic work that relies heavily on energy work with gentle adjustments only when neccessary. I think this is a great option for clients who are looking for a low key introduction to chiropractic work.
